Let us be honest with ourselves. We all like to present our best selves to the world. But it’s very hard to look your best all the time. There are days when you wake up and you feel like if you’ve miss nine hours of sleep. The most annoying thing is you having to spend forty minutes doing your hair and another fifty doing your make-up. Here are my quick and simple tips to cheat your way to looking good.
Get into good habits and stick to them. Even if there are days when you skimp a little, you will still benefit from the work you have put in. Something is better than nothing.
Start with your skin. Cleanse and tone twice a day. Make sure you remove all of your makeup before getting into bed. Invest in a good moisturizer for during the day and a good night cream.
There are lots of factors that affect our skin including hormones. We can’t control everything. However, keeping good beauty habits will give us the best possible chance. This will carry us through the days when we don’t feel one hundred percent.
Put Together A Survival Kit
Put together a survival kit. This will be for days when you’re just not feeling it. It will include:
- A simple cleansing wash
- Foundation cream
- Simple eyeshadow palette
- Lip gloss
- Hair clips (for longer hair) or headwraps
On the days when you’re not feeling your best, you won’t feel like applying your full makeup. I know I don’t. So just include the basics. This will look slightly different for everyone, depending on your preference. If there are any items missing in your makeup bag, replace them.
A good foundation is key. This will form the basis of your makeup. If you get this part wrong, the final look won’t come together. Trust me. Take care of your hair. If you need to visit your hairdresser regularly and keep your hair trimmed and looking healthy, do that. If you don’t find good hair products that will attend to your hair needs.
Learn how to do your makeup and hair. Look for online tutorials and ensure you have several styles up your sleeve. Go for a simple look on the days you’re not feeling it. You will always have something to fall back on.
Go through your wardrobe and remove items you are no longer wearing. On days when you’re under the weather, you won’t feel like rummaging to find something decent to wear.
Try planning your outfits the night before, to save time the next day. Have several outfit choices that are simple to throw together. Dresses are great, as they are an outfit in themselves. You don’t have to mix and match unless you introduce a cardigan or a jacket.
Have plenty of accessories at your disposal to smarten up your outfits. A belt, brooch, or scarf can make a lot of difference to the overall look.
Keep your shoes clean and well-heeled.
On the days you don’t feel your best, you can still look good. Have a few tricks at the ready to ease you through the day.
